ACADEMIC EDITING

Academic editing for papers: language, structure and clarity.

A careful review of your existing text highlights unclear passages and sharpens academic expression. We agree the scope and focus with you individually.

An individual total price based on length, the state of your draft and review depth. Your quote shows the net price, 19% VAT and total price. Further versions or review rounds are agreed separately.

Free and non-binding, with no account required. You receive the scope, deadline and total price before placing a binding order.

UNDERSTAND AND USE YOUR SUPPORT

Improve the text you have written yourself.

Distinguish proofreading from broader editing

Do you mainly need spelling, grammar and punctuation checked, or would feedback on readability and structure help too? Making this distinction helps define your enquiry. Editing can identify long chains of clauses, inconsistent terminology and unclear transitions. We agree which levels of the text will be reviewed and how comments or changes will be presented before work starts.

Review the argument from a reader’s perspective

A paragraph can be grammatically correct while still leaving questions unanswered. Structural feedback addresses issues such as whether a chapter’s purpose is clear, whether claims connect and whether a conclusion follows from the preceding discussion. Questions about the content can guide your own revision. They do not replace university supervision or your decisions about the academic argument.

Work with a clearly identified draft

Send the version you actually want reviewed, together with the assignment brief and relevant formatting requirements. Highlight passages you are particularly unsure about. We agree the length, priorities, output format and deadline before starting. If you later add new chapters or want another version reviewed, that extra work needs to be agreed separately.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE

Questions about academic editing.

What is the difference between proofreading and editing?

Proofreading focuses mainly on errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation. Broader editing can also consider style, clarity, transitions and structure. Your quote defines which areas your paper needs and the depth of the review, so the service is based on a specific scope rather than an assumed package.

Will you rewrite my paper?

The service starts with the text you have already written yourself. Its purpose is clearer wording and understandable feedback within the agreed scope. Academic decisions and responsibility for the content remain yours. Writing a new piece of assessed work for you is not part of academic editing.

Are citations, sources and the bibliography included?

If you want a particular referencing style or formatting issues checked, mention this in your enquiry and attach the requirements. Checking every original source or verifying every subject-specific claim is not automatically part of editing. The actual extent of the review is agreed before work begins.

How much does editing cost, and when will I receive it?

The price and deadline depend on factors such as length, the condition of the draft and the requested priorities. Send your draft and preferred deadline for a free quote. You receive an agreed scope and total price before placing a binding order. Your price relates to the agreed review of your specific draft.

Can I have just a few chapters reviewed?

Specify which chapters or passages you want reviewed and the questions you have about them. An outline, assignment brief and adjacent sections may provide useful context. We agree which parts will be edited and which will be read only for context, so the scope of your request remains clear.
